What to Expect from a Pool Cleaning Company
When owning a pool, the obvious part that no one wants to do is look after it. People just want to have fun in it. This is when hiring a pool company is the right thing to do for you and your pool.
Owning a pool is a lot of fun and is enjoyed by everyone in the family, the not so fun part about it is having to look after it. Everyone would rather be swimming or splashing around in the water, rather than cleaning dirt in the pool. That is when hiring a pool cleaning company service can be beneficial for you and your pool. But what do you get when you hire a service like this? Well, Danny’s Pools wants to list and break down what you should expect when hiring a service like this.
What to Expect
Most pool cleaning companies do a month-to-month agreement which is to keep your pool in shape visually and chemically and to prevent any serious problems from developing.
Obviously, services to vary from company to company and from pool to pool, but typically, these are the list of things you would expect from a cleaning service;
- Testing and Balancing the water chemistry
- Vacuuming the pool bottom using portable service vac or the pools own filter system
- Brushing the sides of the pool
- Emptying and cleaning skimmer and pump baskets from all debris
- Cleaning the filter as needed
- Checking that all equipment are working correctly
- Fill chlorinator or chlorine packs if necessary
- Leave some form of a report of the work that has been done and the chemicals that he or she has used for cleaning your pool that day.
Usually within the service’s agreements are the chemicals that would be needed to maintain your pools water balance which is affected by six factors; pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, dissolved solids, cyanic acid and temperature.
It is also important to note that the cleaning service company can only be responsible for the cleanliness of the pool once he is done and immediately after he has left. As obvious as it may sound, the weather is unpredictable. If the weather to all of a sudden become very windy causing a mess in your pool, it is not that person’s fault.
When it comes to costs, this is something that you will need to contact the service about, however, you’re going to be looking at a monthly cost of anywhere between $100 – $250 a month.
Not covered in most service agreements are additional tasks, such as adding or removing water from your pool, cleaning the deck, repairing equipment and treating stains in the pool.
Other treatments are up for additional costs as well such as specific chemicals for algae prevention or servicing a salt-chlorine generator.
Cleaning tasks done by the pool service does not require certification, but if work is needed to make repairs on motors, pumps, etc. then you will want to see that he or she has certification in that field. Knowing that your pool is going to be in good hands is always handy to know.
During the days/weeks that your worker is not at your place, you are still going to be needing to do some tasks of your own to maintain your pool’s healthiness such as;
- Filling up the pool to the right level
- The odd pool test to check your chlorine and other chemical balances.
- Add your chemicals from time to time
